Connection is so healing in this journey, not only for our children that are struggling but for me as a parent as well.  For so long I was embarrassed, ashamed, and lost as to who I could share this terrible pain with and be safe. This parent support group was a non-judgemental family from the first day.  In this place and only this place I could be sad, angry, even cry and just feel a common love amongst us.  In these meetings I also learned more about myself and found a contentment that was elusive for so many years.  When my son relapsed and when I had to admit multiple children in my family to treatment, these are the people I turned to and they were there to keep me grounded or to just let me fall apart.  Without this group, I most certainly would still be crushed by the unbearable weight of shame.
