I am a “cause person” who is happiest when I can laugh, dance, travel, sing-a-long with my musician hubby, and connect with like-minded people, family, & friends. My dog, nature, and with my spiritual, meditative, and yoga practices keep me grounded.
I am grateful for OPLM & became a peer parent to be part of the change that is needed in the world. Also to find and create community support. My goal as a parent and a human is to come from a place of calm and skill.
I treasure my adorable family. I have two beloved sons, ages 18 and 20. My older son is my qualifier who spent two rounds in IOP before completing one month in Caron Treatment Center, three months at Newport East RTC, and a year at Diamond Ranch Academy. He returned home in June 2021 to his old high school for half the year but went on to Hazelden then graduated high school and went to Turnbridge. We consider all his recovery programs as schooling and are proud of him and his resilience in the face of these challenges.
Our family has attended individual and family therapy, along with my son’s individual sessions, and 12 Step work with a sponsor. He is doing one day at a time in his recovery and currently resides in sober living and attends IOP. He is exploring putting his love of music together with his recovery as a career.
Our younger son will graduate high school this year. He works at a local market, and is trying out wrestling for the first time. His college search is underway and he is interested in computer science. Both sons are super nice, sensitive, funny, love music and have their own brands of brilliance.
As a former social worker with a corporate background, I am passionate about writing, sharing yoga and other healing modalities to support people on their paths. I have worked with hundreds of people in my 22 years as a certified yoga teacher (ERYT-790, YACEP, IAYT) and 10 years as a yoga therapist. I share the stress reduction and lifestyle management techniques that have helped me find my internal strength and heal.
I teach ongoing classes, workshops and run annual retreats. I teach trauma informed yoga on OPLM and with ongoing local classes, online and with a Livestrong Cancer Survivor Group. I am in training with the Center for Motivational Change’s Invitation to Change as a facilitator and to implement the principles with my parent coach in all my relationships.
I am a self help author of Urge Overkill: A Story of Breaking Free on overcoming domestic violence and Integrative Healing: A Holistic Approach to Trauma Recovery. Stay tuned for their launch dates.
