Education and day/overnight camping have always been at the center of my life and work. For over 20 years, I’ve taught Hebrew and supported students preparing for their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs — work that brings me so much joy. I’m also a mom to two amazing young adults, now 23 and 21, who’ve both faced mental health challenges from a young age.
My son began his journey with substances seven years ago and has been through various programs — including wilderness therapy, therapeutic boarding school, transitional living, and sober living. I’m incredibly proud of the progress he’s made and the way he now supports others on similar paths.
Their experiences led me to begin my own recovery journey, and I’ve been steadily growing for the past five years.
My husband and I are celebrating 26 years of marriage, and our two mini goldendoodles complete our family. Since both of my kids live in Arizona, I now split my time between there and Connecticut.
Being part of OPLM since the beginning has been a gift. This community reminds me of the power of connection, and I’m grateful to walk alongside other parents with care and compassion.
Glimmers are the opposite of triggers-small events that can have a strong effect on our wellbeing. Glimmers help reduce our anxiety and help us start seeing things a little differently. —Term coined by Deb Dana, "The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy"
