Speaker Talk: Does Caregiver Engagement Predict Outcomes of Adolescent Wilderness Therapy?

Research links family dynamics to wilderness therapy success, yet programs differ on the role of caregiver involvement. Limited studies have explored how varying levels of engagement impact adolescent treatment outcomes.

This presentation examines a study of 4,067 adolescents across 12 wilderness therapy programs, finding that greater caregiver participation significantly predicts improved mental health outcomes. The more engaged caregivers are, the more their child benefits from the program.
